Rok 2013 był na polskiej kolei pod wieloma względami rekordowy – a jak zapowiada spółka PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe – rok 2014 ma być jeszcze bardziej udany. W tekście zaprezentowano nie tylko zakres inwestycji kolejowych zrealizowanych przez zarządcę infrastruktury kolejowej w 2013 r., ale także plany na perspektywę unijną na lata 2014–2020.

The text presents the scope of railway investments by PKP Polish National Railways in 2013, as well as plans regarding the upcoming EU 2014-2020 prospects. The company announces that it will continue its endeavours to improve the comfort and increase the speed of travel, but most of all, it will focus on improving the conditions of freight transport. One of its goals is to take over road traffic and improve transport safety. It is important to eliminate inconvenient speed limits and offer consistent speeds on longer passages. The commercial speed of freight trains should increase from 16 mph today to 31-37 mph on the main freight routes.
