O źródłach finansowania Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego jako państwowej służby geologicznej
Geological work and research requires many financial resources, which often results in the search for a stable source of funding. In 1920, after the establishment of the Polish Geological Institute (PGI), its Director, Professor Józef Morozewicz, at the request of Prime Minister Wincenty Witos, prepared an extensive statement jus¬tifying the need to finance the work of the geological survey from the state budget. He also demonstrated why geological surveys that ensure national raw material security, hydrogeological studies and geological mapping should be carried out with the use of modern scientific techniques, and why all opinions prepared for the state authorities must be reliable and neutral. Despite the passage of more than 100 years, doubts are continually raised about who should carry out the tasks of the state geological survey and on what principles. In this context, the argumentation presented by Józef Morozewicz is still valid.
