Not to mention Piranesi, the father of all Romantic and Sentimental architecture, the keen observer of antique ruins. Nonetheless our approach will be based on numerous - and various - quotations in order to prove that in certain regions all architecture is in ruin. This complies not solely with the notorious Ruinenwert theory by Speer, but with the completely opposing notions - that of surrealist emblems, ruins and mannequins, and their uncanny character. Ruins of the past lead their uncanny life full of desecrated churches and beheaded angels, behind the political frontiers. If death is the aim of all life...then is not a ruin the aim of all architecture?
