Tooth Contact Development of Spiral Bevel Gears
In this paper, the method of tooth contact development is presented based on a sample of spiral bevel gear. The gear and pinion was generated as the virtual 3D cutting simulation models in CAD system environment (Unigraphics, NX), which have been used in the research work to estimate the tooth bearing and contact problem of tooth sides, which was analyzed in FEM environment (ABAQUS). The contact problem and tooth contact can be one of the quality features of tooth bearing and durability of gear pair. Studies indicate, but especially the location of contact maps shows that the place of contact coincides with tooth bearing of spiral bevel gears.
