Współczesne miasto buduje swoją przyszłość, opierając się lub polemizując z przeszłością. Kreując swój nowy obraz lub wzmacniając istniejący genius loci, musi odnieść się do istotnych dla swojej struktury elementów. Autorka porusza przypadek wykorzystania systemu rzecznego jako motoru atrakcyjności i nowej identyfikacji miasta. Przypadek ten został omówiony na przykładzie miasta Saragossa i programu transformacji jego systemu przestrzeni publicznych w oparciu o nadbrzeża.

The contemporary city builds its future basing on the past or polemizing with it. While creating its new image or strengthening the existing genius loci, it must refer to some structurally important elements. The author presents a case of using a river system as the driving force behind the attractiveness and new identity of a city. She chooses the city of Saragossa and the programme of transforming its system of public spaces on the basis of the waterfronts.
