Zastosowanie kalorymetrii reakcyjnej w badaniach technologii i bezpieczeństwa procesów chemicznych.
W pracy przedstawiono możliwości zastosowań kalorymetrów reakcyjnych CPA (Chemical Process Analyzer-ChemiSens) oraz RCI (Mettler Toledo AG) w badaniach technologii i bezpieczeństwa procesów chemicznych. Omówiono wyniki uzyskane w przykładowych badaniach procesu absorpcji dwutlenku węgla w wodnych roztworach metylodietanoloaminy oraz występującej w przemyśle cukrowniczym reakcji Maillarda.
The reaction calorimetry was presented as a powerful tool for research in the area of process development and process safety. The use of this technique was discussed with reference to specific examples. In the case of CO2 absorption into aqueous solutions of MDEA, the values of molar heat of absorption and the gas solubility were determined in the industrially important operating conditions. The measured heat evolution rate was proposed to be used in estimating the chemical reaction rate. The obtained results demonstrated that heat flow data could serve as an effective measure of reaction progress and reaction rate without any analytical sampling. Another process studied in this work was the Maillard reaction, which occurs in the sugar industry. Two reagents were examined: molasses and sugar juice. The process was investigated in reference to time needed to achieve a maximum reaction rate and heat effect as a function of temperature. Results of the investigations can be a basis for designing safety systems, especially during storage and loading of molasses.
