Przepisy ochrony środowiska obowiązujące w Unii Europejskiej wymuszają podjęcie skomplikowanych przedsięwzięć logistycznych w zakresie gospodarki odpadami w Polsce. Szacuje się, że co roku przybywa w Polsce 120 mln ton odpadów. Rynek odpadów podlegających przetwarzaniu, o znacznym udziale odpadów komunalnych, jest szacowany na 150 tys. ton rocznie. Artykuł poświęcony jest wybranym problemom logistyki HL w sferze usuwania odpadów komunalnych.

Household waste collection is the backbone of the municipal ecologistics. Municipal waste transport system management consists of trip planning accordingly to household locations, waste container types, street traffic organisation, waste equipmen and treatment, storage and disposal facilities locations as well as local customs, costs and prices. Ecologistic haulage can be regarded as business organisation network. Transportation logistics is based on a networked system which can be set by solving the travelling salesman problem. Therefor a networked system is regarded based on a real situation in a newly set habibant district. An example presented shows a solution of a network with weighted edges and vertices applied to waste collection task around the residential quarter area.
