Modern technological processes of storing amminition in a military unit influence contemporary logistics and shape the rules of rational management of resources. A depot is one of the basic elements of military unit’s logistic infrastructure and a link connecting the basic stages of materiel flow. Modern IT systems supporting the storage economy management in the military and modern automated and mechanised auxiliary storage devices significantly facilitate the process of planning, storing, completing and distribution and also enable a rational storage and use of ammunition reserves. Applying modern solutions in the storage economy such as automatic identification, RFID technology, GS1 is necessary in order to manage the ammunition depot effectively. A military unit faces and will face the necessity to apply the state-of the-art technologies of managing the storage economy.
