This article is devoted to settlement of Saint Albert, wchich until the end of the eighteenth century was one of the twenty nine settlements surrounding the charter of city Poznań. This article presents a short history of this settlement, its spatial changes made in the nineteenth and twenty century, and presents research that allowed for the reconstruction of the former landscape of Saint Albert’s settlement from the eighteenth century. One of the significant settlement elements surrounding the city of Poznań was the settlement of St. Adalbert. This settlement was located on the transportation route going from Poznań north to Wronki, Wałcz, Piła and northwest towards Międzyrzecz and Szczecin. The location of the settlement was in a rather distinctive natural place namely on a hill called St. Adalbert's Hill. The hill was located in the valley of the Bogdanka and Wierzbak rivers, which flowed around the hill on both sides, forming an island. On this island, right next to St. Adalbert's Hill, there were two more characteristic hills. The first was named Lysa Góra and was located on the northern side (now it is the hill near the monument to the Poznan Army). The second hill without a name was located to the northwest of St. Adalbert’s Hill (now it is the area near the cemetery for the distinguished).
