The goal of the article was an analysis of current execution level concerning the goal of Europe 2020 Strategy in the field of poverty and social exclusion and also an assessment of possibility of achieving this goal by 2020. In both these tasks values of At Risk of Poverty or Social Exclusion (AROPE) indicator and its three components were utilized. The analysis of AROPE’s values allowed to identify countries with biggest reduction of indicator’s values between 2008 and 2018 (Poland, Bulgaria and Romania), and also biggest increase of these (Luxembourg). The prognosis of AROPE’s values in EU member states in 2020, performed via extrapolation of real values of this indicator in the 2008–2018 period allowed to draw a conclusion, that the goal of Europe 2020 Strategy in the field of poverty and social inclusion will be reached by year 2020.

Celem artykułu było dokonanie analizy aktualnego stopnia realizacji celu strategii Europa 2020 w obszarze ubóstwa i wykluczenia społecznego oraz stworzenie prognozy możliwości realizacji tego celu w zakładanym terminie (do 2020 r.). Rozważania prowadzone w artykule bazowały na analizie wartości wskaźnika zagrożenia ubóstwem lub wykluczeniem społecznym (AROPE) oraz trzech jego składowych. Analiza wartości wskaźnika AROPE pozwoliła stwierdzić, że krajami, które charakteryzował największy spadek wartości wskaźnika między rokiem 2008 a 2018 były Polska, Bułgaria i Rumunia, natomiast największy wzrost tych wartości wystąpił w Luksemburgu. Z kolei przeprowadzona w artykule prognoza wartości wskaźnika AROPE w krajach UE w 2020 r., dokonana w drodze ekstrapolacji realnych wartości tego wskaźnika w okresie 2008–2018, pozwoliła na sformułowanie wniosku, iż cel strategii Europa 2020 w obszarze ubóstwa i wykluczenia społecznego zostanie osiągnięty do 2020 r.
