A pilgrimage to Vilnius] [An iconographic document

The photo shows Ostrobramska Street that leads up to the Ostra Brama (Gate of Dawn) in Vilnius packed full of people. In the foreground among the faithful a priest is visible in a white surplice. Around and behind him a few hundred people of various ages are standing: from elderly woman in headscarfs to scouts in their uniforms. The crowd stretches all the way to Ostra Brama, above which the windows of a chapel can be seen

According to the owner of the photo, it shows a pilgrimage to Vilnius by the parish of Boguty-Pianki in 1937. The organiser of this and many other pilgrimages was Józef (...) (...-1982 Sokolec), a prisoner of the concentration camp Dachau.

Fotografia przedstawia ulicę Ostrobramską prowadzącą do Ostrej Bramy w Wilnie wypełnioną tłumem ludźmi. Na pierwszym planie, pośród wiernych widać księdza w białej komży. Wokół niego i za nim stoi kilkaset osób w różnym wieku, począwszy od starszych kobiet w chustkach na głowach, po harcerzy w mundurkach. Tłum sięga aż po Ostrą Bramę, nad którą widać okna kaplicy

Według właściciela zdjęcia przedstawia ono pielgrzymkę do Wilna z parafii Boguty-Pianki w roku 1937. Organizatorem tej i wielu innych pielgrzymek był ks. Józef (...) (.-1982 Sokolec), późniejszy więzień Dachau
