Metafora pojęciowa jako problem kulturowy w przekładzie amerykańskiej literatury konsolacyjnej

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest metafora pojęciowa jako problem tłumaczeniowy we własnym przekładzie na polski amerykańskiej literatury konsolacyjnej na przykładzie poradnika dla osób, które doświadczyły straty bliskiej osoby. Przeanalizowano metafory ŻAŁOBY, których domeny źródłowe w tekście źródłowym porównano z domenami źródłowymi metafor w tekście docelowym.Głównym założeniem pracy jest istotny wpływ różnic pomiędzy kulturami amerykańską i polską, należącymi do tzw. kultury zachodniej, na konceptualizację żałoby i tym samym przekład metafor pojęciowych. Może spowodować to problem zwłaszcza przy tłumaczeniu literatury konsolacyjnej, która tworzona jest w konkretnym celu przyniesienia ulgi w cierpieniu.

The subject of the paper is conceptual metaphor as a translation problem in American English-Polish translation of consolation literature on the basis of a contemporary self-help book, "I Wasn’t Ready to Say Goodbye: Surviving, Coping & Healing After the Sudden Death of a Loved One," by Brook Noel and Pamela D. Blair. The metaphors analysed here are metaphors of grief whose source domains in the source text are compared with the source domains in the target text.The main assumption is that although American and Polish culture both belong to the Western cultures, and seem to be close, they differ in conceptualising, in this case, grief. This may cause problems while translating consolation literature whose purpose is to bring comfort to the writer, to the reader or to both of them.
