An analysis of the evolution of American dramaturgy illustrated with example of chosen spectacles of the National Old Theatre and Słowacki Theatre in Cracow

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie rozwoju dramaturgii w Stanach Zjednoczonych, a także poddanie analizie sztuk amerykańskich dramaturgów, które realizowane były dwóch krakowskich teatrach, im. Juliusza Słowackiego oraz w Narodowym Teatrze Starym im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej. Praca przedstawia okres rozwoju dramatu amerykańskiego od czasów kolonialnych po wiek XX.Od lat trzydziestych do sześćdziesiątych XX wieku zbudował swój styl, niepowtarzalność i oryginalność, rozprzestrzeniał się po całym świeciePrzedstawieniu oraz interpretacji zostaną poddane między innymi "Tramwaj zwazny pożądaniem", "Smierć komiwojażera", "Szklana menażeria", "Cena", "Nasze miasto".

The main aim of this thesis is to present the evolution of an american dramaturgy, and to analyse chosen spectacles of american dramatists which were realized in two cracovian theatres: The Słowacki Theatre and The National Old Theatre. This thesis presents the period of evolution of the american drama from colonial years to XXth century. From 30s to 60s of XX century the american drama created its own style, an uniqueness and its novelty, spreading cross the whole world. In this thesis there are taken plays for presentation and the interpretation: 'A Streetcar Named Desire', 'Death of a Salesman', 'Price', 'Our town', 'The glass menagerie' .
