A Fleur-de-lys on the azure field and a Lion on the red background – relations between Philip II Augustus and Richard I the Lionheart based on narrative sources written at the turn of the 13th century

Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest przedstawienie przebiegu i rozwoju stosunków pomiędzy Filipem II Augustem a Ryszardem I Lwie Serce w świetle źródeł z epoki im współczesnej. Omawiane są w niej kroniki, roczniki, gesta i zwierciadła, dotyczące panowania obu monarchów np. „Roczniki” Rogera z Hoveden, „Gesta Philippi Augusti” Rigorda i Wilhelma Bretończyka.

The aim of the Master’s thesis is to present relations between Philip II Augustus and Richard I the Lionheart based on narrative sources written at the turn of the 13th century. The conflict was complex and had political and personal reasons. Almost all the 10 years of Richard’s reign flew by during war.
