Rome in epistolography of Zygmunt Krasiński

The purpose of this work is to interpret the passages of Zygmunt Krasiński’s epistolography about Rome, which is understood as a cultural phenomenon. In the early chapters I present outline of the theory of the letter and describe the nature of poet’s epistolography. Then I describe the basic issues of life in the Eternal City in the first half of the nineteenth century. In the next chapter I present different types of compounds between poet and Rome. I'm interested in the Krasiński’s perception of Roman area at different periods of his life.

Celem niniejszej rozprawy jest interpretacja fragmentów dotyczących Rzymu – rozumianego jako pewien złożony fenomen kultury – obecnych w korespondencji Zygmunta Krasińskiego. W początkowych rozdziałach prezentuję zarys teorii listu, a także opisuję charakter epistolografii poety. Następnie przedstawiam podstawowe kwestie dotyczące funkcjonowania Wiecznego Miasta w pierwszej połowie XIX wieku. W kolejnym rozdziale rozważam różnego rodzaju związki Krasińskiego z Rzymem. Najwięcej uwagi poświęcam sposobom postrzegania rzymskiej przestrzeni przez Krasińskiego w różnych okresach jego życia.
