International Childern’s Digital Library – analiza zasobu

The work presents the subject of the International Children's Digital Library. Its aim is to examine the collection of books and working of the library and to compare with other digital libraries, and to find similarities with traditional libraries. Main research is divided into two parts. First part focuses on the description of contents and functioning of the International Children's Digital Library. Its collections, users and interface were shown. Results were compared to the Europeana, the National Digital Library Polona and the Jagiellonian Digital Library. In the second part of the research the analysis of selected books has been made in terms of composition and bibliographical data. Illustrations, other decorative elements, text layout, indexes and forewords were taken into consideration. Typographic analysis and statistical method were used to examine selected publication titles. Results were compared in order to determine characteristic features of books included in the canon of children’s literature. They permitted to draw the conclusions in regard to structure of collection and development of the International Children's Digital Library.

Przedmiotem pracy jest International Children's Digital Library. Jej celem jest zbadanie księgozbioru i funkcjonowania biblioteki i porównanie jej na tle innych bibliotek cyfrowych oraz odniesienie do tradycyjnych bibliotek dla dzieci. Badanie właściwe składało się z dwóch części. W pierwszej, koncentrowało się na opisie zawartości i działania International Children's Digital Library. Przedstawione zostały jej zbiory, użytkownicy i interfejs. Rezultaty porównane zostały z Europeaną, Cyfrową Biblioteką Narodową Polona oraz Jagiellońską Biblioteką Cyfrową. W drugiej części badania dokonano analizy wybranego księgozbioru pod względem składu książek i danych bibliograficznych. Uwzględnione zostały ilustracje i inne elementy zdobienia, układ tekstu oraz aparaty pomocnicze książki. Wykorzystano analizę typograficzną i metodę statystyczną do zbadania określonych tytułów publikacji. Wyniki zestawiono ze sobą w celu określenia charakterystycznych cech książek wchodzących do kanonu literatury dziecięcej. Pozwoliły one także wyciągnąć wnioski dotyczące struktury księgozbioru i rozwoju International Children's Digital Library.
