The Eastern Partnership and the development of the Polish foreign policy

Eastern dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy is part of the EU foreign policywith the special importance for Polish foreign policy because of its positionin Europe, geographical and geopolitical location. Year 2009 was undoubtedly the year ofthe EU's eastern neighbors. The Eastern Partnership is the result of the effortsundertaken by Poland and Sweden.Thanks to the determination and efforts of the initiators of the Eastern Partnership, the project managed to start and thereby managed to get the influence on the EU's eastern policy. Initiation of the Eastern Partnership, as well as regular and institutionalized cooperation witheastern neighboring countries, has become one of the most important priorities of thePolish European policy after 2007. The Eastern Partnership is the firstPolish major initiative within the European Union, which gives important direction ofthe EU social policy, economic and security policy. The Eastern Partnership initiativegained a lot of support in the EU because of the dynamically changingconditions in the EU and in its immediate surroundings. Thanks to this initiativePoland has become a more credible actor in the international environment, inEuropean Union itself, and in the eastern neighboring countries, which contributedto improve our image and position in the international arena

Wschodni wymiar Europejskiej Polityki Sąsiedztwa jest częścią polityki zagranicznejUE o szczególnym znaczeniu dla polityki zagranicznej Polski ze względu na jej pozycjęw Europie, położenie geograficzne i geopolityczne. Rok 2009 bez wątpienia należał dowschodnich sąsiadów Unii Europejskiej. Partnerstwo Wschodnie jest efektem wysiłkówpodjętych przez Polskę i Szwecję. Tylko dzięki determinacji oraz staraniom inicjatorówprojektu udało się doprowadzić do jego zapoczątkowania i tym samym do uzyskaniawpływu na politykę wschodnią UE. Zainicjowanie programu PartnerstwaWschodniego, a także regularnej oraz zinstytucjonalizowanej współpracy zewschodnimi państwami sąsiednimi, stało się jednym z najważniejszych priorytetówpolskiej polityki europejskiej po 2007 roku. Partnerstwo Wschodnie jest pierwsząpoważną polską inicjatywą na forum Unii Europejskiej, która nadaje istotny kierunekunijnej polityce społecznej, gospodarczej oraz polityce bezpieczeństwa. Inicjatywa PWzyskała w Unii duże poparcie ze względu na dynamicznie zmieniające sięuwarunkowania w samej UE oraz w jej najbliższym otoczeniu. Dzięki tej inicjatywiePolska stała się bardziej wiarygodnym aktorem w środowisku międzynarodowym, wsamej Unii Europejskiej oraz we wschodnich państwach sąsiedzkich, co przyczyniło siędo polepszenia naszego wizerunku oraz pozycji na arenie międzynarodowej.
