"The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring". Analiza porównawcza tłumaczenia portugalskiego i brazylijskiego pierwszej części trylogii Tolkiena

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza porównawcza portugalskiego (1977) i brazylijskiego (1994) tłumaczenia powieści "The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring". Analiza obu tłumaczeń skupia się na ich zgodności z oryginałem, poprawności oraz ogólnym podejściu tłumaczy do angielskiego oryginału. Zakres badanych aspektów obejmuje zarówno porównanie nazw własnych postaci i miejsc, jak i wybranych fragmentów tekstu oraz poezji Tolkiena. Analiza jest przeprowadzona pod kątem zabiegów tłumaczeniowych, występowania tendencji deformacyjnych, błędów tłumaczeniowych i trudności związanych z przekładem poezji Tolkiena. Analiza jest przeprowadzona w oparciu o tekst oryginalny oraz wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące teorii translatoryki takie jak ekwiwalencja, kwestia dystansu językowego i kulturowego czy strategie tłumaczeniowe.

This present study aims to carry out a comparative analysis between the portuguese and the brazilian translation of "The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring". The portuguese translation by Fernanda Pinto Rodrigues (published in 1977) and the brazilian translation by Lenita Rímoli Esteves and Almiro Pisetta (published in 1994) are analysed with regard to their adequacy and correctness. Additionally, the translators’ general approach to the original text is examined in order to perform a full qualitative evaluation of the translations. Based on the original text as well as on the relevant concepts from the theory of translation, the study examines several features of the translated texts which are: names of the characters and locations , selected passages and selected poems. Based on the examples, the study explores various aspects of the texts such as cultural and linguistic distance, deformative tendencies, translation errors and strategies.

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo comparar a tradução portuguesa de Fernanda Pinto Rodrigues (publicada em 1977) e a tradução brasileira de Lenita Rímoli Esteves e Almiro Pisetta (publicada em 1994) da primeira parte da trilogia tolkieniana, intitulada "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring". O presente trabalho analisa a adequação, a correção das traduções bem como a abordagem geral dos tradutores à obra, determinando deste modo a qualidade tradutória e literária de ambas as traduções. A comparação abordará vários aspetos do texto, tais como a tradução dos nomes próprios, a existência das tendências deformantes e dos erros de tradução assim como os obstáculos relacionados com a tradução da poesia. O estudo será baseado no original inglês e nos conceitos relevantes escolhidos da teoria de tradução, tais como a equivalência, o problema da distância cultural e linguística ou as estratégias de tradução.
