The critical function of the Vorhandenheit notion in Martin Heidegger’s existential analytic

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza funkcji pojęcia Vorhandenheit (,,obecności’’) w projekcie analityki egzystencjalnej Martina Heideggera. Dzieło ,,Bycie i czas’’ zostaje przyjęte jako główny materiał badań. Praca składa się z czterech części.Pierwsza część ma charakter przygotowawczy, prezentuje miejsce tytułowego pojęcia w technicznej terminologii analityki egzystencjalnej. Druga część pracy stanowi analizę transcendentalnego wymiaru zachowań Dasein pozwalających na napotykanie bytów wewnątrzświatowych ukonstytuowanych ontologicznie na sposób Vorhandenheit. Trzecia część prezentuje sposób użycia przez Heideggera pojęcia Vorhandenheit w jego krytyce wybranych koncepcji filozoficznych. Heidegger demaskuje ich uwikłanie w paradygmat rozumienia na sposób Vorhandenheit, które nie pozwala na adekwatne ujęcie specyfiki Dasein. Tutaj Heideggerowski projekt ,,destrukcji ontologii tego, co obecne’’ zostaje zarazem ściśle odróżniony od Derridiańskiej ,,dekonstrukcji metafizyki obecności’’. Czwarty rozdział skupia się na egzystencjalnych stawkach transgresji poza paradygmat ontologii obecności. W tym kontekście analizie poddana zostaje zwłaszcza kwestia faktyczności Dasein, jego upadania (Verfallen) oraz wreszcie perspektyw indywiduacji. Na koniec wyeksponowany zostaje emancypacyjny potencjał wpisany w krytyczne użycie pojęcia Vorhandenheit. Demaskacja dominacji ujmowania bycia na sposób obecności oraz wskazanie jego dopuszczalnych granic pozwalają wyjść poza statyczną wizję świata, w której każdy byt ma z góry określoną tożsamość i funkcję w systemie. Dasein jest bowiem we właściwy sposób tylko wtedy, gdy nie pozwala zastanym wykładniom decydować o ,,jak’’ własnego bycia.

The present thesis is an attempt to analyze the function of the term Vorhandenheit ("presence" or ‘’presence-at-hand’’) in Martin Heidegger’s project of existential analytic. The work "Being and time" is adopted here as the main material of research. The thesis consists of four parts.The first part, a preparatory one, presents the place of the title notion in the framework of technical terminology of existential analytic.The second part is an analysis of the transcendental dimension of Dasein's activities allowing the encounter of entities within-the-world constituted ontologically in the Vorhandenheit way.The third part presents the use of the Vorhandenheit notion in Heidegger’s criticism of selected philosophical concepts. Heidegger exposes their entanglement in the paradigm of understanding in the Vorhandenheit way, which does not allow an adequate approach to the specificity of Dasein. Here, Heidegger’s project of "destruction of the ontology of the present-at-hand’’ is at the same time strictly distinguished from Derrida's "deconstruction of the metaphysics of presence."The fourth chapter focuses on the existential stakes of the transgression beyond the paradigm of the ontology of presence. In this context, the analysis concerns especially the question of the facticity of Dasein, its falling (Verfallen) and, finally, the perspective of its individuation.At the end, the emancipatory potential inscribed in the critical use of the term Vorhandenheit is emphasized. Unmasking the domination of Vorhandenheit in the understanding of being and the indication of its limits allow to go beyond the static vision of the world in which every entity has a predetermined identity and a function in the system. Dasein is in the proper way only when it does not allow the existing interpretations to decide on the ''how'' of its own being.
