Dietrich Benners question about school pedagogical legitimacy
The paper presents the major points of Dietrich Benner's considerationa on pedagogical legitimacy of "scholling" upbringing and education included in hisbook "Studien zur Didaktik und Schultheorie" (1995). Following main thoughts, the author reflects on the meaning of Benner's suggestions vegarding the theory of school and school pedagogy and attempts to uncover the implications of the lack of pedagogical justification for the existence of school to the whole area of pedagogy. In the author's opinion, Benner's thoughts justifyconcerns about pedagogical knowledge of school, as since the beginning of modern history, school has existed withoust pedagogical legitimacy and has operated as a state-dependent socio-political institution, fulfilling tasks which lie in the interest of the state.
