Tłumaczenie humoru w literaturze dla młodzieży: analiza porównawcza dwóch polskich przekładów „Sekretnego dziennika Adriana Mole’a lat 13 i ¾”

The aim of this thesis is to analyse translated humour in young adult fiction, and more specifically, to examine and compare the translation techniques applied in two different Polish versions of the same text. The analysis is based on extracts and the corresponding two Polish translations of the novel written by Sue Townsend, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13¾. The thesis contains an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. The introduction presents the research questions, the aim and the contents of the thesis. The first two chapters focus on the selected theoretical aspects of humour and translation: theories and classifications of humour, the phenomenon of translation equivalence, skopos theory and (un)translatability of the cultural and humorous elements, the process of translation, translation strategies and techniques. The third chapter presents the research material, methodology, the results of quantitative research and the analysis of selected examples that involved translation of humour based on register, irony and wordplay. The final section of the thesis is the conclusion.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza humoru przetłumaczonego w literaturze dla młodzieży, a w szczególności zbadanie i porównanie technik tłumaczeniowych zastosowanych w dwóch polskich wersjach tego samego tekstu. Analiza jest oparta na fragmentach powieści Sue Townsend pt. „Sekretny dziennik Adriana Mole’a lat 13 i ¾” wraz z odpowiadającymi im dwoma polskimi przekładami. Praca zawiera wstęp, trzy rozdziały oraz zakończenie. We wstępie przedstawiono pytania badawcze, cel oraz zarys treści pracy. Przedmiotem pierwszych dwóch rozdziałów są wybrane ujęcia teoretyczne humoru oraz przekładu: teorie i klasyfikacje humoru, zjawisko ekwiwalencji w przekładzie, teoria skoposu, (nie)przekładalność elementów kulturowych i humorystycznych, proces tłumaczenia, techniki oraz strategie tłumaczeniowe. W rozdziale trzecim przedstawiono materiał badawczy, metodologię, wyniki badań ilościowych oraz analizę wybranych przykładów tłumaczenia humoru opartego na rejestrze języka, ironii oraz grze słów. Ostatnią część pracy stanowi zakończenie.
