Praca została poświęcona tematyce badań osobopoznawczych. Szczególne znaczenie przyznaje ich funkcji przy orzekaniu wymiaru kary. Zostały opisane czynniki wpływające na zachowania przestępcze. Następnie katalog kar, ich cele i funkcje, a także przepisy prawne związane z badaniami. Później została przedstawiona metodologia badań i jej wykorzystanie na potrzeby procesu oraz przy prognozowaniu. W podsumowaniu została zwrócona uwaga na potrzebę badań osobopoznawczych w procesie karnym oraz problemy jakie pojawiają się w związku z nimi.

The study investigates the subject of personal identification tests of the perpetrator in polish criminal trial.The main focused was based on their function in imposing a penalty. Firstly the factors influencing criminal behavior have been described. Then, a catalog of penalties, their purposes and functions, as well as legal provisions related to research. Later, the methodology and its use for the needs of the criminal trial and criminological prognosis were presented. In the summary, attention was drawn to the need for identification research in the criminal process and the problems that arise in connection with them.
