Education of European information in the Institute of Librarianship and Information Science of the Silesian University in Katowice

Instytut Bibliotekoznawstwa i Informacji Naukowej Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach od kilku lat podejmuje działania w zakresie modyfikacji programu kształcenia na studiach dziennych i zaocznych oraz dostosowania go do standardów europejskich, przede wszystkim w zakresie zastosowania najnowszych technologii informacyjnych-komunikacyjnych. Przygotowana w Uniwersytecie Śląskim oferta programowa pierwszej edycji Podyplomowych studiów-Biblioteki i Systemy Informacyjne w Unii Europejskiej kierowana jest do bibliotekarzy i pracowników informacji naukowej pragnących pogłębić edukację w zakresie współczesnego bibliotekarstwa i nowoczesnych technologii informacyjnych w kontekście integracji europejskiej. Program odpowiada założeniom społeczeństwa informacyjnego. Całość została zamknięta w następujących modułach tematycznych: wstęp do problematyki integracji europejskiej; system prawa i struktura Unii Europejskiej; źródła informacji w Unii Europejskiej; zautomatyzowane systemy informacji Unii Europejskiej; języki informacyjno-wyszukiwawcze w systemach informacyjno-wyszukiwawczych; informacja prawna i parlamentarna Unii Europejskiej; dostęp do informacji europejskiej w Polsce; biblioteki w procesie integracji europejskiej; europejski rynek usług informacyjnych.

The paper presents the new curriculum of the Postgraduate Studies - Libraries and Information Systems in the European Union in the Librarianship and information Science Institute of the Silesian University. In this programme the following modules are included: introduction to the European integration knowledge; the law system and the organizational structure of the European Union; the origin and the idea of European information society; information sources in the European Union; the origin and the idea of European information society; information sources in the European Union; the European Union automated information systems; the European Union legal and parliamentary information; access to european information in Poland; libraries in the European integration process; european information services market. This paper stresses the role of education of librarians and information specialists in Poland of the european information in the context of the integration with the European Communities and of Polish participation in european librarianship.
