ON THE DIVISION OF THE SECTIONS FOR THE HISTORY OF PHARMACY OF THE POLISH PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY

The aim of the paper is to present the activity of the Division of the Sections for the History of Pharmacy of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society (PTFarm), established in 1964 as a successor to the Section for the History of Pharmacy, founded as an agency of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society in 1956. An overview and library search has been made of writings on the topic, mainly in 'Farmacja Polska' (Polish Pharmacy) and other journals, as well as in the series 'PAMIETNIKI' (Memoirs), published since 1999. The issues discussed in the paper have been presented at Scientific Conferences, Congresses and Symposia organized by the Section for the History of Pharmacy of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society, both in Poland and abroad. The Division of the Sections for the History of Pharmacy of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society has constituted a meeting place for historians of pharmacy from Poland and abroad. It has influenced directions of research in the particular sections and has represented the interests of historians within the Main Board of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society. The members of the Division have been active in many areas and have promoted research in the history of the profession and its ethics, as well as advocated the gathering of mementos of the activities of pharmacists.
