Wzorując się na zachodnioeuropejskich inwestycjach infrastrukturalnych można zauważyć, że rozwój wyłącznie samej infrastruktury dróg, bez odpowiedniego zaplecza techniczno-technologicznego związanego z Inteligentnymi Systemami Transportowymi (IST), może okazać się niewystarczającym. Przeprowadzone w krajach wysokorozwiniętych badania nad zastosowaniem IST dostarczają bogatej literatury dającej szczegółowe dane dotyczące kosztów i korzyści ich stosowania. Należy je brać pod uwagę na etapie projektowania sieci infrastruktury drogowej, tak aby była ona jak najbardziej wydajna i bezpieczna.

Following the example of West-European infrastructure investments it is possible to notice, that development of only infrastructure of roads, without the appropriate technical-technological background with Intelligent Transportation Systems the development can turn out insufficient. Carried out the research in high-developed countries on countries on ITS delivering rich literature giving the particular data concerning costs and the benefit of applying them. One should take them into consideration at the stage of designing the net of the road infrastructure, in order to be the most efficient and safe.
