Analiza i ocena problemu piractwa u wybrzeży Somalii
The problem of pirates’ attacks off the coast of Somalia hit the world headlines in the last months of the previous year. However, the threat to navigation security in this region has had a long and complicated history. Presented opinions, analyses and suggested solutions show a one-sided character and are simplified. The article features direct and indirect factors determining the development of piracy in this region of the world. Political, military, economic and social conditions generating this form of threat for navigation are discussed. Moreover, the analysis of a global importance of the sea off Somalia’s coast for the world economic exchange through the sea is presented. Somali pirates’ tactics aiming at minimizing threat by acts of piracy is analyzed. The activities of international naval groups of vessels operating within anti-piracy campaign are described.
