In the paper some technical and economical criteria for choice of the squirrel cage induction motors' windings are defined and discussed. There are taken into account the necessity of reducing the spatial harmonics, the end winding's length and the time for manual labour. Two examples of the analysis are presented for fractional threephase windings and the advantages of the windings with low spatial harmonic content are emphasised.
