Fakt zasadniczego zwrócenia się w kierunku badań materiałowych, badań nad poprawą własności materiałów, szukaniem nowych materiałów o nowych zadanych własnościach, potwierdzają badacze tej tematyki. W artykule przedstawiono działalność informacyjną w tym zakresie prowadzoną w Instytucie Metali Nieżelaznych. Zaprezentowano system informacyjno-biblioteczny Metale Nieżelazne 3, oraz bazy spełniające funkcje informacyjno-wyszukiwawcze w zakresie tematyki podstawowej: bazę Metale Nieżelazne (BMN), bazę Zasobów Bibliotecznych (BZB), bazę Opracowania Własne (BOW).

The fact of fundamental turning into material research, research on improvement of materials' properties, seeking new materials that have new assigned properties, is confirmed by the researchers of this subject-matter. In the article the informative activity in the domain performed in Non-ferrous Metals' Institute has been presented. There has been shown the informative-library system Non-ferrous Metals 3 (Metale Nieżelazne 3) and bases that fulfil the informative-retrieving functions scope of basic subject-matter: base Non-ferrous metals 3 (BMN), base Library Resources (BZB), base Private Elaborations (BOW).
