The paper presents strength tests results for 2024 aluminium alloy sheets adhesive joints, the forming of which was preceded by specific surface pre-treatment operations. Surface pre-treatment is one of the technological factors of a significant influence on the adhesive joints strength. The operations applied in the tests were as follows: degreasing, mechanical and chemical treatments. The aforementioned surface treatment methods applied prior to adhesive bonding are widely used in aircraft industry, among others. In the process of adhesive joining other factors, such as technological (adhesive type, joints hardening and seasoning conditions) or structural (geometrical size, type of load) were not altered. The tests were performed on shearloaded single-lap 2024 aluminium alloy sheets adhesive joints.
