Likwidacja kopalń jest naturalnym procesem występującym w każdym przedsiębiorstwie górniczym. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane aspekty procesu likwidacji kopalń węgla kamiennego w Polsce w latach 1991 - 2001, takie jak koszty likwidacji oraz dotacja budżetu państwa ma likwidację kopalń. Ponadto wskazane zostały istotne zmiany w tempie oraz efektach realizacji tego procesu wynikające z realizacji rządowego programu restrukturyzacji branży.

The liquidation of collieries is a natural process which took place in all coal companies. In the paper the author presented some aspects of the liquidation process in Polish hard coal mining such as the liquidation costs and the subsidy from government budget. Moreover, it is showed the significant changes, which took place in a pace and effects of the realisation of this process as a result of the execution of the government restructuring programme of the mining sector.
