Właściwa terminologia ważnym czynnikiem poprawności tekstu prac hydrologicznych

Terminology in hydrology - relatively young science, remains under influence of geophysical, geo-graphical and engineering sciences. Author indicates incorrect terminology, which makes under-standing of scientific texts difficult, and shows necessity of language correctness in speech and writing. He draws attention to necessity of proper science names applying, which derive from di-verse hydrology development, which in 18th and 19th century represented science about mineral and medicinal water. Earlier term hydrology appeared, representing knowledge about water in the Earth and tater - hydrologic services. Author presents correct names of areal hydrologic units and depicts wrong terms connected with water balance concept. In closing author mentions research on hydrological names as a branch of geographical onomastics and Polish and German publications containing correct names of water bodies in Poland.
