W pracy przedstawiono naturalną genezę, podstawowe funkcje i tendencje rozwojowe logistyki morskiej, będącej podstawą kształtowania współczesnych procesów globalizacji. We wstępie omówiono znaczenie rejonów nadmorskich w rozwoju gospodarczym i na tym tle podjęto próbę opisowego zdefiniowania pojęcia logistyka morska. Głównym celem pracy była próba zdefiniowania logistyki morskiej w kategoriach branżowej mezologistyki, operującej na rynkach lokalnych, narodowych i globalnych. Zasadniczymi wyznacznikami logistyki morskiej jest transport morski i porty morskie oraz stosowane technologie obrotu portowo-towarowego. Przedmiotem szczególnego zainteresowania były procesy i logistyczne funkcje współczesnych portów morskich, stanowiących kluczowe ogniwo logistycznego łańcucha dostaw drogą morską. Zwrócono także uwagę na tendencje ewolucyjne współczesnych portów morskich w stronę lądowo-morskich centrów dystrybucji logistycznej. Istotną rolę w rozwoju logistyki morskiej odgrywają nowoczesne technologie transportowe oraz zaawansowane systemy telekomunikacyjne i technologia informatyczna.

The paper presents a natural origin, the basic features and trends of maritime logistics, which is the basis of shaping contemporary processes of globalization. In the introduction discusses the importance of coastal regions in economic development, and against this background, attempts to define the concept of descriptive Maritime Logistics. The main objective of this study was to attempt to define the maritime logistics industry in terms of logistics, operating on local, national and global markets. Essential determinants of maritime logistics are maritime transport, ports and technology. Of particular interest were the processes and logistics functions of modern seaports, which are a key link in the logistics supply chain by sea. There were underlain the evolutionary trends of modern sea ports to the logistics distribution centers. Important role in the development of maritime logistics play a modern transport technologies and advanced telecommunications systems and information technology.
