As it has been already stated, the main task of a scholar who analyses spiritual diaries is to reconstruct the personality and in particular the spirituality of their heroes. Jankowski’s notes are a testimony of his search for norms of living in the new situation, after “awakening”, which is accompanied by a process of critical self-observation. Books and the contact with the sea provide the space for the search. An important role is also played by people: the wife and the mother. He would like to live according to it. However, he is always on the way.
