Uczelnie galicyjskie doby autonomii

Celem artykułu jest ocena sytuacji uczelni galicyjskich po uzyskaniu przez Galicję autonomii. Skupiono się w nim na sytuacji uniwersytetów oraz Szkoły Politechnicznej we Lwowie, m.in. na liczbie wykładowców, słuchaczy i wykładów na tych uczelniach. Rozpatrywano również kwestię materialnego wsparcia nauki. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwala na wyciągnięcie wniosku, że uzyskanie przez Galicję autonomii przyczyniło się do rozwoju szkolnictwa oraz poprawy poziomu wykształcenia społeczeństwa. Dzięki większemu dostępowi do finansowania mogły się rozwijać również nowe dziedziny nauki. Sytuacja na objętych analizą uczelniach była podobna. Od początku okresu autonomii w Galicji wzrastała liczba wykładowców, wykładów oraz słuchaczy. Powstawały nowe wydziały, katedry czy kierunki kształcenia. Z uwagi na charakter kształcenia uczelnie galicyjskie wykształciły wielu sławnych humanistów.

The article examines the situation of universities in autonomous Galicia. The main area of research is the situation at universities and in the Lviv Polytechnical School, including the number of academic staff, students and lectures. The analysis also included the issue of financial support for academics, and led to the conclusion that Galicia gaining its autonomy contributed to the development of education and improved the educational level generally. Greater access to funding brought academics to new areas. The situation at the universities analyzed was similar: The number of teachers, lectures and student body increased from the outset of autonomy. Moreover, new faculties, departments and fields of study were opened. Galician educational institutions developed numerous famous humanists.
