This article examines family as an educational environment, its functions, methods of developing personality and satisfying needs. It describes the manner in which personality of an individual determines how he/she functions in the society and behaves. It points out the influence of family on personality and on personality disorders. In this framework, the article discusses inadaptability of children and adolescents, youth crime and new trends in resocialization. Additionally, the article includes examples of therapeutic programmes.
