Official papers submitted to the municipal institutions by the inhabitants of the Lesser Poland in the light of rules of standard polish language code : selected (ortho)graphic and punctuation problems
The objective of the article is an analysis of the language of the official papers submitted by the inhabitants of Zakliczyn commune to the Zakliczyn Municipal and Communal Office and to the Local Social Welfare Centre in Zakliczyn (467 documents). The paper focuses on the issue of realization of the rules of Standard Polish language code in the aspect of graphy, orthography and punctuation. People who wrote those documents are poorly educated, therefore, their papers present an exceptionally low level of language skills. Punctuation errors appear in almost every text and orthographic mistakes are present in c. 40 % of the texts. The most common errors are related to the use of capital letters or result from the influence of spoken language (of standard code or local dialect).
