Aetherius Society: A Monograph

This monograph aims at presenting the Aetherius Society - a religious organization derived from occult practices nevertheless cathegorized as "UFO religion, active from 1950s through present times. Contains presentation of its history, doctrine and activity, record of its connections to other practices and communities (Christianity, Theosophy, other "UFO religions", the Ancient Astronauts Theory).The work is based on source information released by the Society itself and other studies in English revolving around the topic. Conclusion features an analysis of selected research dilemmas which emerged while studying the group's doctrine, including reasons behind introducing alien visitors into the cosmological view, and causes for its preservance in spite of decline in number of followers due to appearance of other similar organizations in the 50s.

Praca niniejsza ma na celu przedstawienie Aetherius Society – funkcjonującej od lat 50’ po dzień dzisiejszy organizacji religijnej, wywodzącej się z tradycji okultystycznej, ale zaliczanej również do kategorii „religii UFO”. Jej opis obejmuje przedstawienie historii, doktryny i działalności, prześledzenie jej związków z innymi tradycjami i grupami (chrześcijaństwo, teozofia, inne „religie UFO”, teoria starożytnych astronautów). Źródłami są materiały udostępniane przez samą grupę, jak również anglojęzyczne prace omawiające związane z nią zagadnienia. Pracę kończy analiza wybranych problemów badawczych, powstałych w trakcie studiów nad doktryną opisywanej grupy, w tym przyczyn włączenia przybyszów z kosmosu w wizję kosmologiczną, a także utrzymania się kultu wobec utraty zwolenników przez powstałe w latach 50’ organizacje o podobnym charakterze.
