The powers of the European Parliament and the democratic deficit in the European Union

Praca poświecona jest analizie problematyki demokratycznej legitymacji Unii Europejskiej na tle rosnącej pozycji Parlamentu Europejskiego i parlamentów narodowych. Celem niniejszej pracy jest badanie zmian wprowadzonych kolejnymi Traktatami, mającymi na celu niwelowanie deficytu demokracji oraz stopnia ich przyczyniania się do zmniejszenia deficytu demokracji w Unii Europejskiej. Całość oparta jest na analizie dostępnej literatury i aktów prawnych.

The main purpose of thesis is analysis of democratic legitimacy of the European Union's position against the growing position of the European Parliament and the national parliaments. The main aim of the study is focused on studying changes In European law made by Treaties to eliminate democratic deficit. Full considerations are based on analysises of legalisation and avaliable literature.
