Quality nursing care of patients in the Department of One Day Surgery

Introduction: The quality of the nursing care is an essential part of the evaluation concerning patients stay and treatment in a hospital.Goal of the dissertation: The goal of the dissertation was to evaluate the quality of the nursing care at the “one-day” surgery ward.Materials and method: The research consist of one hundred surveys which were answered by the patients hospitalized at 1st General Surgery, Gastroenterological and Oncological Clinic of the University Hospital in Cracow.The research was based on the Newcastle scale adopted by polish scientist A. Gutysz- Wojnicka.Results and conclusion: The research has indicated a connection between the patient’s satisfaction with stay in hospital and the quality of nursing care. There were no signs of differentiation on the satisfaction with the stay and the quality of nursing care due to sociodemographic features.

Wstęp: Jakość opieki pielęgniarskiej jest nieodzownym elementem oceny całokształtu pobytu i leczenia przez pacjenta w szpitalu.Cel pracy: Celem pracy była ocena jakości opieki pielęgniarskiej na oddziale chirurgii jednego dnia.Materiał i metoda: Badaniem objęto 100 pacjentów leczonych w I Kalince Chirurgii Ogólnej, Gastroenterologicznej i Onkologicznej Szpitala Uniwersyteckiego w Krakowie.Do badań wykorzystano skalę Newcastle w adaptacji polskiej wykonanej przez A. Gutysz- Wojnicka.Wyniki i wnioski: Badania wykazały zależność między oceną pacjentów z opieki pielęgniarskiej a ich oceną z pobytu w szpitalu. Nie stwierdzono istotnych różnic pomiędzy zmiennymi socjodemograficznymi badanych a ich oceną na temat opieki pielęgniarskiej i oceny chorego z pobytu w szpitalu.
