The phenomenal aspect of existential alienation in life and works of Edward Stachura

Celem pracy jest przybliżenie postaci Edwarda Stachury. Szczególny nacisk `położony został na ukazanie jego wyobcowania w świecie i nieudanej próbie odnalezienia w nim swojego miejsca.Kolejne rozdziały zawierają opis każdej sfery życia poety, na którą wpływ miała choroba psychiczna. Na początku przybliżona została biografię Edwarda Stachury. Kolejny rozdział opisuje jego relacje z najbliższymi: rodziną i przyjaciółmi. Rozdział trzeci jest opisem choroby psychicznej Stachury. Ostatni rozdział dotyczy niezwykłej twórczości. Głównym źródłem informacji były biografie poety, liczne wspomnienia o nim, a także bogata korespondencja. Kluczowe dane o chorobie psychicznej i ostatnim etapie życia Edwarda Stachury pochodzą z Dzienników, które prowadził przez ponad dwadzieścia lat. Obcowanie z twórczością Stachury jak również poznanie jego biografii skłania do refleksji na temat potrzeby poznania swej tożsamości i odnalezienia miejsca w świecie. Mam nadzieję, iż czytelnik mojej pracy postara się uważniej spojrzeć na drugiego człowieka, być może doświadcza wielkiego cierpienia lub zmaga się z chorobą i potrzebuje pomocy.

The purpose of this thesis is to close-up the figure of Edward Stachura. Special emphasis was put on showing Stachura’s alienation in the world and unsuccessful trial of finding his place in it.Each chapter contains the description of poet’s each and every sphere of life which was affected by his mental disease.Firstly, there is a close-up of Edward Stachura’s biography. Next, there isa description of poet’s relationships with his friends and family. The third chapter depicts Stachura’s mental disorder and the final one focuses on his astonishing works.The main source of information were Stachura’s biography, numerous recollections about him and also huge correspondence. The key data about the poet’s mental disease and last stage of his life were found in his journals that he kept writing for more than twenty years. Working with Edward Stachura’s poetry, and also getting to know his biography, makes me ponder about the need of knowing oneself and finding ones place on earth. I do hope that a reader of my thesis will try to look upon other people, who might be struggling with disorders, hurt and may be in need of our help, more thoroughly.
