Działalność kulturalna regionalistów polskiej Orawy po I wojnie światowej.

This dissertation presents the cultural activity of the regionalists of the Polish Orava after World War I. Orava is a geographic region which is situated near the Polish and Slovakian border, therefore the culture and traditions of these two above mentioned countries keep interweaving all the time. The region which is being described has a turbulent history, thus the inhabitants of this land experienced the sense of being deprived of their national identity many times. This sort of identity crisis among many Oravians was caused by pending government decisions to shift the boundaries. During that period, the regionalists played the key role, for they were deeply involved in the most important issues of the homeland. The in-depth analysis of the empiric study showed the significance of the impact of the regionalists’ work on the formation of the national identity of the inhabitants as well as its role in promoting and fostering the cultural heritage on that territory. Thanks to the regionalists’ contribution and care, the folk culture still exists on Orava despite the sweeping changes of the civilization, the disappearance of the people’s traditional livelihood and the growing number of wealthy inhabitants.

W pracy została przedstawiona działalność kulturalna regionalistów polskiej Orawy po I wojnie światowej. Orawa jest krainą geograficzną leżąca na przygranicznych obszarach Polski i Słowacji, dlatego też kultura i tradycja tych państw przenikają się wzajemnie. Opisywany region ma bardzo burzliwą historię, a mieszkańcy tej ziemi niejednokrotnie zatracali poczucie własnej tożsamości narodowej. To swoiste rozbicie psychiczne u wielu Orawian, spowodowane było długim wyczekiwaniem na decyzje rządowe i przesuniecie granic. Dużą rolę w tamtejszych czasach odegrali regionaliści orawscy, którzy byli bardzo zaangażowani w najistotniejsze sprawy ziemi rodzinnej. Analiza dorobku literackiego i działalności kulturalnej, wykazała jak dużą rolę odegrała ich twórczość w kształtowaniu się poczucia przynależności narodowej tych mieszkańców oraz w szerzeniu tradycji i krzewieniu kultury na tej ziemi. Dzięki ich działalności i trosce, kultura ludowa na Orawie trwa nadal, pomimo zmian cywilizacyjnych, zaniku tradycyjnych zajęć ludności i wzrostu zamożności mieszkańców.
