The determinants of capital structure management strategies in companies listed on the WSE

Celem niniejszej pracy dyplomowej jest analiza elementów otoczenia przedsiębiorstw notowanych na GPW w Warszawie, determinujących strategię zarządzania strukturą kapitału w tychże przedsiębiorstwach. W związku z powyższym wstęp do pracy stanowi przegląd pojęć z zakresu źródeł finansowania, struktury kapitału, a także prezentacja roli strategii zarządzania strukturą kapitału w ogólnej strategii przedsiębiorstwa. Ponadto w pracy zaprezentowane zostały czynniki determinujące strukturę kapitału – zarówno te, które wskazuje się w literaturze przedmiotu, jak i wyniki badań prowadzonych na polskich oraz na zagranicznych przedsiębiorstwach. Na bazie tego przeglądu autor postawił w niniejszej pracy dziewięć pytań oraz hipotez badawczych. Hipotezy te zweryfikowane zostały w oparciu o dane dotyczące spółek notowanych na Giełdzie Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie, w latach 2005-2012. Są to spółki wchodzące w skład indeksu WIG20. Badania pozwoliły zdiagnozować szereg czynników determinujących strategię zarządzania strukturą kapitału w polskich przedsiębiorstwach.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the business environment components of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which determine the strategy for managing the capital structure of these companies. Therefore, the use of the work provides an overview of concepts of financing, capital structure, and presentation of the role of capital structure management strategy in the overall business strategy. In addition, there are presented determinants of capital structure - both the ones indicated in the literature and the results of research carried out in Polish and foreign companies. On the basis of this review, the author of this paper has set nine questions and hypotheses. These hypotheses were verified on the basis of data on companies listed on the Stock Exchange in Warsaw in 2005-2012. These are the companies included in the index WIG 20. The research allowed to diagnose a number of factors determining the capital structure management strategy in Polish enterprises.
