Japan during the American occupation 1945-1951

The occupation of Japan by American forces after World War II took 6 years. During this time there have been not only huge political regime changes but also social and cultural ones.This thesis presents the most important aspects of these transformations starting from the signing of the capitulation act in 1945 through giving the Americans the new Constitution, revival of the political life and the changes in literature and culture ending with the signing in 1951 of the Treaty of San Francisco, which ended the occupation in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Sześć lat - tyle trwała okupacja Japonii przez siły amerykańskie po II wojnie światowej. Przez ten czas nastąpiły ogromne przemiany nie tylko polityczno-ustrojowe ale także społeczne i kulturalne. Niniejsza praca magisterska prezentuje najważniejsze aspekty tych przemian poczynając od podpisania aktu kapitulacyjnego w 1945 roku poprzez nadanie przez Amerykanów nowej Konstytucji, odrodzenie życia politycznego i przemiany w literaturze oraz kulturze a kończąc na podpisaniu w 1951 roku traktatu z San Francisco, który kończył okres okupacji Kraju Wschodzącego Słońca.
