Stress as a threat to the effective functioning of the employees in organization

Professional stress is a very high capacity notion, it can be considered as the cause of many dysfunctions of the human being, and as a result of the mismatch to the conditions or requirements of the job. However, significant and providing of its dangers is the scope of the aspects that are affected by it. The consequences of stress affect not only the employee, but in the long term could lead to a significant deterioration in the functioning of the entire organization. This work defines both organizational and psychological stress, its causes and consequences, and looks at stress management programs used by employees and managers. The empirical part was built on the basis of a survey conducted among the receptionists working in hotels and it was intended to measure the stress level in the profession heavily exposed to the social services . Making the survey has enabled me to interpret the obtained proposals and answer important research questions based on the knowledge contained in the theoretical part of my work.

Stres zawodowy jest pojęciem niezwykle pojemnym, może być rozpatrywany, jako przyczyna wielu dysfunkcji człowieka oraz jako skutek niedopasowania pracownika do warunków lub wymogów pracy. Jednakże znamiennym oraz świadczącym o sile jego zagrożenia jest zakres aspektów na które wpływa. Konsekwencje stresu dotykają bowiem nie tylko samego pracownika, ale w perspektywie długofalowej mogą doprowadzić do znacznego pogorszenia funkcjonowania całej organizacji. Niniejsza praca definiuje stres zarówno psychologiczny jak i organizacyjny, rozpatruje jego przyczyny i konsekwencje oraz analizuje programy zarządzania stresem stosowane przez pracowników oraz zarządzających. Część empiryczna została zbudowana na podstawie badania przeprowadzonego wśród recepcjonistów hotelowych, które miało na celu pomiar poziomu stresu występującego w tym silnie narażonym na niego zawodzie usług społecznych. Dokonana ankieta umożliwiła mi interpretację uzyskanych wniosków oraz odpowiedź na ważne pytania badawcze w oparciu wiedzę zawartą w części teoretycznej mojej pracy.
