The Christian Sacred in the Poetry of Zbigniew Herbert. Interpretations and Reinterpretations.

The aim of this thesis was a new view at the sacred in the poetry of Zbigniew Herbert, taking account of other work that has already arisen on this subject. The author wanted to show the kind of evolutionary nature of the christian sacred in poetry the author Chord of Light . But it was not possible in all aspects, because not everywhere such transformation occurred. Many of inspiration in that thesis is taken from the publication of Tomasz Garbol, Aleksander Fiut, Andrzej Franaszek, and also Stanisław Barańczak. A fresh viewpoint at the sacred in Zbigniew Herbert poetry made by, inter alia, philosophy and theology.The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter is the present state of research. The author tried to reach the most important works on the sacred dimension of Herbert’s poetry. In the second chapter under consideration is widely understood representation of God. This chapter also is divided into subsections. Under consideration are poems beginning from tome Hermes, Dog and Star to Epilogue to a Storm. On their basis it is discussed the problem of the Last Judgement, God in this poetry, doubts, and the reinterpretation of the Bible by Herbert. In this chapter, it is shown the evolution that has taken place in understanding and speaking about some issues related to the religious dimension of that poetry.The third and longest chapter is about the person of Christ in the poetry of Zbigniew Herbert. This chapter, like the previous one is divided into subsections. In this section is being considered the idea of God who is close to human. Another issue is the way of showing God and Christ in poetry of Herbert. Last point of concern is the issue of understanding of religion and religiosity by lyrical subject, beginning with the early poems and ending with Rovigo from 1992.

Celem niniejszej pracy było nowe spojrzenie na sacrum w poezji Zbigniewa Herberta z uwzględnieniem innych prac, które już na ten temat powstały. Autorce zależało na tym, aby pokazać niejako ewolucyjny charakter kwestii związanych z chrześcijańskim sacrum w twórczości autora Struny światła. Nie było to jednak możliwe we wszystkich aspektach, gdyż nie wszędzie transformacja taka zachodziła. Wiele inspiracji w niniejszej pracy jest zaczerpniętych z publikacji Tomasza Garbola, Aleksandra Fiuta i Andrzeja Franaszka, a także Stanisława Barańczaka. Nowe spojrzenie na sacrum w poezji Herberta dokonuje się między innymi przez filozofię i teologię.Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy rozdział jest to stan badań. Skupia on w sobie najważniejsze prace na temat sakralnego wymiaru poezji Herberta. W drugim rozdziale, który jest podzielony na podrozdziały, analizowany jest szeroko pojęty obraz Boga. Przedmiotem rozważań są w nim wiersze od tomu Hermes, pies i gwiazda do Epilogu burzy. Na ich podstawie omawiany jest problem Sądu Ostatecznego, Boga w poezji Herberta, wątpienia, a także reinterpretacja Biblii przez autora Pana Cogito. Pojawia się również za Hansem Jonasem wizja Boga, który nie jest wszechmocny. W tym rozdziale ukazana jest ewolucja, jaka zaszła w pojmowaniu i mówieniu o niektórych kwestiach związanych z sakralnym wymiarem tejże poezji.Trzeci, najdłuższy rozdział traktuje o osobie Chrystusa w poezji Zbigniewa Herberta. Rozdział ten, podobnie jak poprzedni dzieli się na podrozdziały. W nim to rozważane jest zagadnienie bliskiego Boga. Kolejnym omawianym problemem jest sposób ukazywania Boga i Chrystusa w herbertowskiej poezji. Ostatnim punktem jest kwestia pojmowania religii i religijności przez podmiot liryczny, zaczynając od wczesnych utworów, kończąc na tomie Rovigo z roku 1992.
