Historical conditions and contemporary state of emigration from the Podkarpackie region

The main problem undertook in the following thesis is the influence of long-term tradition of emigration from Podkarpacie region on contemporary migrational trends, primarily in terms of its directions. Changes that occurred after the Polish accession to the EU have been also described. After analysing the statistical data the author argued that the phenomenon of emigration significantly influences the social and economic changes of the region, among others, increasing brain drain and deepening of pathological behaviour. In order to obtain a more accurate picture of the phenomenon, it is recommended to create long-term forecasts, which can help to find a way to stop human capital drainage from the region.

Zasadniczym problemem podejmowanym w niniejszej pracy jest wpływ długoletniej tradycji emigracyjnej z terenów województwa podkarpackiego na współczesny obraz tej migracji, a przede wszystkim jej kierunków. Zostały również opisane zmiany jakie zachodzą po akcesji Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Po analizie danych statycznych autorka dochodzi do wniosku, że zjawisko emigracji ma znaczący wpływ na zmiany społeczno-ekonomiczne regionu, takie jak rosnące zjawisko drenażu mózgów, czy pogłębianie się patologii społecznych. Zaleca się stworzenie długoterminowych prognoz, które mogą pomóc w próbie zatrzymaniu kapitału ludzkiego.
