Internal migration in the United States between 1995-2015

Migracje wewnętrzne miały i mają ogromny wpływ na rozwój i funkcjonowanie Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki. Państwo to jest postrzegane jako kraj o wyjątkowo wysokim poziomie mobilności. Obejmuje ona nie tylko przemieszczenia na długie dystanse takie jak przeprowadzki między regionami i poszczególnymi stanami ale również zmiany miejsca zamieszkania w obrębie jednego stanu czy hrabstwa. Jest to temat szeroko omawiany i badany nie tylko w USA ale też na świecie. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie skali, specyfiki i roli jaką migracja wewnętrzna odegrała w społeczeństwie amerykańskim w latach 1995-2015. Pierwsza część pracy to przede wszystkim próba odpowiedzi na pytanie czym jest migracja i jakie przybiera formy we współczesnym świecie. Następnie, w oparciu o statystyki udostępnione przez Cenzus Bureau, dokonano charakterystyki migranta, opinano ogólne trendy w migracjach w wybranym przedziale czasowym a także czynniki je warunkujące w Stanach zjednoczonych.

Internal migration have, and had in the past a huge impact on the development and functioning of the United States of America. This country is perceived as a place with an exceptionally high level of geographic mobility. Including not only the long-distance movements such as moving between regions and from state to state, but also changes in place of residence within one state or county. This issue is widely discussed and studied not only in the US but also all around the world. The main aim of this thesis is to present the scale, character and role that internal migration played in American society between the years 1995-2015. The first part is an attempt to answer the question what migration is and what forms it takes in the modern world. Secondly, based on the statistics provided by US Census Bureau, the characteristics of the migrants were made, general trends in migrations in the selected time period were described, as well as factors determining them in the United States.
