The Impact of American Field Service (AFS) Intercultural Exchange Programs on the Europeanization of High School Students

The paper evaluates the impact of participation in intercultural exchange programs, organized by American Field Service (AFS), on the europeanisation of their participants - students of Polish high schools. The theoretical aspects of the problem ware described - what is the European identity and how the AFS intercultural exchange program works. In order to examine the problem, ten hypotheses regarding opinions, behaviors and skills of AFS program alumni and their peers were put forward. The hypotheses were verified by research in the form of a questionnaire.

Praca bada wpływ uczestnictwa w programach wymiany międzykulturowej, organizowanych przez American Field Service (AFS), na europeizację ich uczestników - uczniów polskich szkół średnich. Opisano teoretyczne aspekty problemu - czym jest tożsamość europejska oraz jak działa program wymiany międzykulturowej AFS. W celu zbadania problemu, postawiono dziesięć hipotez dotyczących opinii, zachowań i umiejętności absolwentów programu oraz ich rówieśników. Hipotezy zostały zweryfikowane poprzez badania w formie kwestionariusza.
