Le langage enfantin dans la traduction de la littérature d’horreur : l’exemple de “Shining” et de “Simetierre” de Stephen King

Niniejsza praca licencjacka dotyczy języka dziecięcego w przekładzie literatury grozy. Skupia się ona na sposobie tłumaczenia kwestii wypowiadanych przez dzieci, które pojawiają się w ramach rodzaju literackiego przeznaczonego dla dorosłych. Część teoretyczna przedstawia przekład i jego problemy, język dziecięcy jako taki oraz literaturę grozy, opierającą się na pojęciu strachu. Część praktyczna zawiera analizę fragmentów dwóch powieści Stephena Kinga: Lśnienia oraz Cmętarza zwieżąt. Oba analizowane dzieła wyróżnia obecność dzieci jako bohaterów pierwszoplanowych. Ich wypowiedzi stanowią obszar rozważań prezentowanej pracy.

Le présent mémoire concerne le sujet du langage enfantin dans la traduction de la littérature d’horreur. Le travail se concentre sur la manière de traduire les paroles d’enfants qui apparaissent dans un genre littéraire conçu pour adultes. La partie théorique présente la traduction et ses problèmes, le langage enfantin en tant que tel ainsi que la littérature d’horreur qui est fondée sur la notion de peur. La partie pratique contient l’analyse de passages de deux romans de Stephen King : Shining et Simetierre. Les deux œuvres étudiées se distinguent par la présence d’enfants en tant que personnages principaux. Leurs paroles constituent le champ d’analyse de cette étude.

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the child language in horror literature’s translation. It focuses on the way to translate children’s speech that appears in a genre designed for adults. The theoretical part presents translation and its problems, child language as such and horror literature, which is founded on the notion of fear. The practical part includes analysis of fragments of two Stephen King’s novels: The Shining and Pet Sematary. Both studied works distinguish themselves by the presence of children as the main characters. Their words constitute the field of study for this thesis.
