The title of the work presented here is J.R.R. Tolkien's ''The Children of Húrin'' from the perspective of pragmatic literary stylistics. The work begins with the introduction of the paper's main point of interest in the first chapter – pragmatic literary stylistics. The chapter allows the research to be viewed from the literary perspective. Then, within the same chapter, a theoretical framework of Labov's nar-rative theory is introduced. It creates the possibility of grasping literary texts in ramifica-tions of a specific structure.The second chapter describes the subject of deictic expressions. There, basic deixis tenets are explored, as well as their meaning to the context of pragmatic literary stylistics. Examples of deictic expressions' specific types are provided, as well as detailed examples.The last, third chapter applies all of the presented theoretical frameworks to the ana-lysis of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Children of Húrin. Quotes from two chapters of the book serve as the research field. Labov's theory supports the process by enabling the text to be narrowed down into basic units or larger segments. Deictic expressions are the main point of interest. They are spotted, classified and analysed. Conclusions made connect with and contribute to the perspective of pragmatic literary stylistics.

Rozdział pozwala spojrzeć na badania z literackiej perspektywy. Następnie, w tym samym rozdziale, przedstawiono ramy teoretyczne teorii narracji Labova.
